Next month sees the publication of a book "celebrating" 100 years of Vogue fashion shots featuring dogs. Certainly, it includes some beautiful photographs but whatever message is this collection sending? That dogs are fashion accessories?
Of course, using dogs to prop up fashion models is nothing new. I can remember when I was a child my mother had a book called The Changing Face of Beauty and even now I can recall a black and white photograph of the stunning Fiona Campbell Walter accompanied by an Irish Wolfhound. His rugged looks made a dramatic contrast with the equisite beauty of the model - which was obviously the idea.
But unfortunately there are many gullible girls who blindly follow where so-called celebrities go and it's quite bad enough that people like Paris Hilton and Geri Halliwell are photographed with little dogs peeking out of their shoulder bags without devoting a complete book to the nauseating idea that a dog can enhance your outfit.
